(563) 332-2555 How to order a dumpster for your Quad Cities home, business or job site

Prior to ordering a roll off dumpster for your Quad Cities home business or job site, you’ll need to determine the size of dumpster you’ll be needing.  Dumpsters are sold in 6, 10, 20, 30 cubic yard sizes.  Smaller dumpsters are needed when the volume of waste needing to be disposed of is little or the proposed location of the dumpster is limited.  Larger dumpsters can be ordered in situations where projects are expected to generate significant amount of waste and the location for dumpster is large enough to accommodate a dumpster roughly 6 feet in height, eight feet in width, and twenty feet in length.
You’ll need to determine what wastes can be deposited in dumpsters in your state.   Both Illinois and Iowa have banned appliances, tires, electronics, yard waste, liquids,  and hazardous wastes from entering landfills.  Your waste hauler or local authorities might be able to help with any questions you may have about materials that are prohibited in dumpsters and local landfills.
You’ll need to decide when to take delivery of your roll off dumpster prior to contracting a dumpster rental company.  Although you may be able to get a dumpster delivered the same day you order one, typically, dumpster companies like a day or so notice when scheduling dumpster deliveries to Quad City customers.  Additionally, during peak dumpster usage periods of the year (April through November) it may be wise to reserve a dumpster a week in advance to ensure one is available for your project.
An on-site location for your dumpster will need to be decided or discussed when ordering a dumpster.  Dumpsters can be roughly 20 feet in length and 8 feet in with, and require an unobstructed, solid, and level surface.  Trucks delivering dumpsters are about 35 feet in length and need additional space for maneuvering.  Typically, hard level surfaces that could prove useful for dumpster placement include parking lots, driveways with sufficient strength, or even streets where local ordinances allow dumpsters to be placed in streets.  If you’re uncertain about the on-site placement of your dumpster, you may want to ask the driver delivering the dumpster for their opinion- An experienced dumpsite truck driver can help you determine an acceptable location to spot a dumpster.
Once your dumpster is delivered, be sure to follow all safety rules.  don’t overload the dumpster by weight or by volume.  Be sure all waste is below the sides of the dumpster so that it can be safely transported to the disposal facility.  Do not play or climb on or around the dumpster and keep children away from the dumpster and your job site.
Decide when you want to have your dumpster picked up.  You will need to call your dumpster company a day or so in advance so that a truck can be scheduled for the dumpster removal.  Make sure cars or other obstructions are not blocking the dumpster and that the dumpster collection truck is provided with unobstructed access to the dumpster.
